Beginnner beekeeping class in Wasilla on Saturday, April 1st from 11am to 4pm. Class will be held at Valley Board of Realtors at 741 E Susitna Ave, Wasilla, AK 99654. 


Cofee, tea, and water will be provided, as well as basic snacks. We will take breaks to walk around, stretch your legs, and handle equipment.



Class will cover:

•Necessary equipment for beekeeping and how to obtain them.

•How much will this cost?

•The different bees and their roles.

•Strains of honey bees and their pros/cons.

•Preparing your hive for bees.

•How to hive your package/installing a nuc.

•Running double queen hives.

•Swarming; what is it, why I don't like it, and how to prevent it.

•Beekeeper's Calender; checking your hives throughout the summer.

•Harvesting and extracting honey. How much will I get?

•Preparing for Fall/Winter.

•Storing equipment.
